It is a quintessential American story – a narrative of high hopes, hard work, setbacks and, ultimately, success. It begins in 1888 when 14 year old Rosario “Frank” Liberto says goodbye to his hometown of Cefalu, Sicily and sails for the port of New Orleans and the opportunities only America could offer an ambitious young immigrant. By 1894, he owns a store in Louisiana, then moves on to Beaumont, Texas where he marries Angelina Rinando. In 1909 the young family puts down roots in San Antonio, home to the next four generations of Libertos. Today, Frank’s great-great grandchildren, the fifth generation, are coming into the business!
The turning point for the Liberto family and it's business was when Frank Liberto originated the concession nacho in 1976. Nachos were first served at Arlington Stadium in Texas. Needless to say, they were an instant hit! Frank soon became known as "The Father of Nachos" and nachos jumped to become the #3 most popular concession item. To keep up with the increasing demand for that product, Frank created Ricos Products Co. in 1977.
Ricos Products Co. continues to be the leader in nachos and nacho cheese sauces throughout the world. Ricos products are currently served in over 47 different countries!
